Updated 10:48 AM EDT — BREAKING NEWS — ‘We got him’: Suspect in Charlie Kirk assassination identified as Utah local Tyler Robinson
Updated 11:11 AM EDT

We are reeling in horror and grief. Charlie Kirk, a courageous voice for Truth and Freedom, has been violently taken from us. His assassination is not just a personal loss—it is an unthinkable attack on the very Soul of America. He was 31 and a father of two young children. And I hope I am wrong, but this feels like we are crossing some invisible line that we did not know was there.

Charlie wasn’t afraid to speak boldly, to challenge the status quo, and to stand up for Conservative Values that represent millions of Americans. His Voice inspired Hope, Courage, and the belief that Freedom of Speech is worth defending at all costs. And now, that voice has been silenced by Cold-Blooded Violence.

In the horrifying footage released, Charlie was passionately addressing a gathering of his supporters and critics at Utah Valley University when the gunman opened fire. The attack was sudden and brutal—a savage attack to silence a man
mid-sentence,
mid-voice,
mid-idea.
The stunned crowd scattered as the echo of gunshot filled the air, and Emergency Personnel rushed to his aid. Despite their efforts, Charlie succumbed to his injuries, leaving the nation in shock and mourning.

President Donald J. Trump condemned this horrific act in no uncertain terms:

“Charlie Kirk was a True Patriot, a Fighter for our Country and our Values. This senseless Killing is an Attack on all Americans who cherish Freedom and the right to speak their minds. We must stand united and reject violence in any form. Justice will be served.”

Charlie Kirk just minutes before he was murdered.

In honor of Charlie’s life and legacy, President Donald J. Trump has ordered that all flags will fly at half-mast until until 6 p.m. ET on Sunday — a symbol of mourning for a fallen Hero and a solemn reminder of the stakes we face.

This terrible tragedy demands more than tears. It demands resolve. The hatred that kills has no place in America. It’s a threat to every American voice, every family, every Dream built on Liberty and Free Expression.

Now is the time for every American, from every walk of life and every political belief, to come together. We must protect the Right to speak, to debate, to disagree without fear of violence or intimidation. Charlie Kirk’s Life was a testament to that Right. His death must awaken in us a fierce determination to defend it.

We mourn today. We fight tomorrow. And we never, ever surrender our Freedom.

the Assassination of Charlie Kirk

BREAKING NEWS:

Washington Times: ‘We got him’: Suspect in Charlie Kirk assassination identified as Utah local Tyler Robinson

The suspect taken into custody for the assassination of rising conservative star Charlie Kirk is a 22-year-old local from Utah named Tyler Robinson, authorities said Friday.
“We got him,” Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox said at a press conference.

He said Mr. Robinson had “confessed” to “a family friend,” who contacted the Washington County, Utah Sheriff’s office.

Mr. Robinson had become “more political” in recent years and had said disparaging things about Charlie Kirk, and he was aware Mr. Kirk was going to speak at an event at Utah Valley University, the governor said.
Mr. Kirk was shot and killed there on Wednesday as he met with students on the campus green.

A family member, Mr. Cox said, stated that “Robinson had become more political in recent years,” and had talked about why he didn’t like Mr. Kirk or his viewpoints.
“The family member also stated Kirk was full of hate and spreading hate,” he said.

Earlier, photos of the alleged suspect and his parents had flooded the internet shortly after President Trump first announced on “Fox & Friends” that law enforcement had captured a suspect.

Mr. Kirk was fatally shot Wednesday while conversing with students at Utah Valley University.
Mr. Trump said the suspect’s father turned him in.
“With a high degree of certainty, we have him,” Mr. Trump said on “Fox & Friends.” “Everyone did a great job and worked with the local police.”
The FBI’s circulation of photos of the then-unidentified suspect on Thursday appeared to pay off.
“Somebody very close to him said, ‘That’s him,’ and went to the father, went to law enforcement,” Mr. Trump said. “The person was involved in law enforcement but was a person of faith, a minister. He brought him to a U.S. Marshall and the father convinced the son, ‘This is it.”

Photos from social media show a young man standing in his bedroom wearing some of the clothing and the Converse sneakers that appear to match images of a suspect taken by security cameras and publicized by law enforcement.
Mr. Kirk, 31, was killed on the first stop of a college campus tour in which he challenged students to prove him wrong on hot-button issues such as gun control, transgender ideology and abortion.

President Donald Trump vowed on Wednesday evening that his administration will identify those involved in the assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

The president said during an address to the nation that he was “filled with grief and anger” at the attack.

“My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it, as well as those who go after our judges, law enforcement officials, and everyone else who brings order to our country,” Trump said.

The perpetrator, who fatally shot Kirk during a speaking event in Utah on Wednesday afternoon, remains at large. Two people of interest were questioned in relation to the assassination, but were later released.

“Radical and political violence has hurt too many innocent people and taken too many lives,” Trump said.

“Tonight, I ask all Americans to commit themselves to the American values for which Charlie Kirk lived and died: the values of free speech, citizenship, the rule of law, and the patriotic devotion and love of God. Charlie was the best of America, and the monster who attacked him was attacking our whole country.”

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox described the attack as politically motivated, saying at a Wednesday evening press conference, “I want to be very clear that this is a political assassination.”

The 31-year-old Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University as the first of 14 planned stops at colleges and universities for Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour,” which was set to run from Sept. 10 to Sept. 30.

When the shooting occurred, Kirk was sitting under a tent in the center of a wide amphitheater-style area of the campus, taking questions from the audience while sitting behind his “Prove Me Wrong Table.”

When he was shot, he was discussing gun violence in the United States.

“Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?” a young person at the microphone asked Kirk.

“Counting or not counting gang violence?” Kirk replied.

As he lowered the microphone, a gunshot could be heard before Kirk’s body went limp and he fell out of his chair. Graphic videos of the attack show blood pouring from Kirk’s neck.

Chaos ensued as members of the audience realized what was happening. Shouts and cries were heard. Many in the audience could be seen dropping to the ground and scrambling to get away.

Staff near the table quickly moved toward Kirk.

Though two individuals have been questioned about the shooting, the culprit remains at large.

An initial arrest was conducted around the time of the shooting. However, that individual was ruled to have not been involved and was later released.

A second person of interest was also released after questioning by the FBI, Director Kash Patel said on Wednesday evening.

The Salt Lake City branch of the FBI established a tip line seeking information about the shooting. Officials currently believe that only one person was involved in the assassination.

Beau Mason, commissioner of the Utah Department of Public Safety, provided the limited details that were available, all pulled from low-quality campus security camera footage.

Mason said the suspected assassin was “dressed in all dark clothing; we don’t have a much better description.”

He added that the shot came from a location on campus. Mason described it as a “longer distance shot” that was “potentially from a roof.”

Aside from the FBI and Utah Department of Public Safety, police in Orem and at Utah Valley University are also offering assistance.

An advisory on Utah Valley University’s website said that the campus will be closed until Sept. 14 and all classes, events, and administrative operations suspended until then. Those on campus were told to secure in place “until police officers can escort you safely off campus.”

Tributes have quickly poured in for Kirk, who has been in charge of Turning Point USA since founding the organization in 2012.

Trump announced in a post on Truth Social that he had ordered all American flags to be flown at half-mast until 6 p.m. ET on Sunday “in honor of Charlie Kirk, a Great American Patriot.”

In a repost of Trump’s post announcing Kirk’s death, Vice President JD Vance wrote on X, “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.”

Cox said on X that he and his wife, Abby, are “heartbroken.”

“We are praying for Charlie’s wife, daughter, and son,” the governor said.

Like Trump, Cox ordered flags in Utah to be flown at half-mast until Sunday evening.

Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called Kirk a “relentless and courageous crusader for free speech.”

“We pray for Erika and the children. Charlie is already in paradise with the angels. We ask his prayers for our country,” Kennedy said.

Top Democrats condemned the assassination.

Since he came to the national stage with his political activism group in 2012, Kirk has been one of the most influential and well-known conservative speakers.

Through his 13 years at the head of Turning Point USA, Kirk became famous for his “man on the street” style engagements with college students, often featuring debates on topics ranging from abortion to health care to illegal immigration.
